Can you believe Christmas is just a few days away! I was doing a bit of last minute shopping yesterday (:)) and noticed some frantic looks as shoppers were searching for that perfect gift. Than I saw this post on and wanted to share as a reminder of how we can choose to spend our time this holiday season.

I thought I’d choose the first item on this list & share with you how I am learning to BE PRESENT:

As each year goes by the more I realize that I want to be Present for my life. I’ve spent much time being “busy” and talking about this “business” with a sense of pride only to realize that I was often not Present to enjoy the moments in my life and time was quickly passing by. I am learning to be more present and want to share with you 2 things that I have found that help me with this:

1) When my thoughts wander and/or I began feeling overwhelmed I pause and bring my attention/my awareness to the present moment. What am I seeing, feeling, hearing etc?

2) Once my awareness is back in the present moment I take a few breaths and I focus on my breath often breathing in and counting to 3 and breathing out and counting to 5. This helps ground me and allows me to be present.

I can’t write this without my favorite author coming to mind, yes you guessed it, Wayne Dyer! He used to say we are “Human Beings” and not “Humans Doing” and I LOVE this & feel it is so true 🙂

So we can chose to give ourselves, our loved ones, and those we encounter, as we go about our day, a Christmas gift of BEING PRESENT for ourselves and for others.
